I wish the authors had expanded the short story into a novella or novel instead of just tacking on a few bonus chapters. This story has potential: ex-military man, ER doctor, hot lovin' in a hospital closet. YES, oh, yes. I was initially totes confused (see my status updates), but I got with the program. I think what threw me is that (view spoiler)[Derek and Justin have been exclusive and together for five years yet still use condoms. I know that can be a preference, but it felt off. I liked the MCs, and I loved Aunt Vera, but the disjointed, disconnected telling of the story bothered me. Likewise, the grandness of keeping the relationship under wraps didn't feel believable. (view spoiler)[I can understand not outing yourself while in the military, but keeping a committed, live-in relationship secret for FIVE YEARS from all family and friends doesn't seem feasible. That and the hot clandestine sex scene are what made this a 3 star read for me (probably closer to 2.5, rounded up).

A short story that is nothing like it seems at the beginning. I liked the surprising turn that happened about halfway. If it wasn't for it I don't think would have like this or even finished it. It changed the whole story and transformed the theme. At the end of the story there are some chapters with scenes that date before and after the main story. It was fun to read them, but I didn't like them as much. I'll admit that it was nice to get to know the characters more through those scenes though. The last part of the story felt a bit rushed and everything was neatly put into place in a way that felt too fast to be believable. I liked the first half of the story a lot more than the second, especially once I read about the thing that changed the whole story. My view of the story shifted and I had to adjust my perspective accordingly. It's a pleasant short read that helps pass the time, but nothing more than that.

Dr. Derek Babineaux aka Dr. Baby is right there with the other nurses ogling new employee Justin Delacroix. Justin is a nurse, recently out of the military and trying to adjust to civilian life. Both Derek and Justin have secrets and insecurities, but one super steamy encounter in a supply closet could change both of their lives. Both characters’ points of view are included which really adds to the story. Justin is clearly struggling with more than just his new life, while Derek seems to have everything together. I had my suspicions about Justin and was pleasantly surprised when all was revealed. Both the vulnerable Justin and the take charge Derek are good characters and when Derek finally decides to take a chance he doesn’t do anything by half measures! If you previously enjoyed the original you're going to want to read the new version since there are a few added chapters that continue the story, as well as showing past important moments from the men's lives. If you haven’t read it yet and you like a coming out story with steamy sex scenes that lead to men having emotional epiphanies I’d recommend it. The story is short and left me very happy. I came to really like both characters and could have easily read more.

2.5 Stars I was confused. Then I was charmed. But didn't really see the reason for the subterfuge either in the story or in their lives. Then they just up and fix it all through text messaging? Um. Huh. And can someone explain how you can manage to keep an exclusive, loving, all-consuming relationship a secret for years from everyone, including both your families and all your friends? Nuh uh. Not buying it.

Oh HELLS yes! I've yet to read a Kindle Alexander book I haven't loved, and despite the faster pace set by the lower word count, Closet Confession is no exception. Hot and sweet, a little twisty and a lot of awesome. Life in the ER is fast-paced and that's how Dr. Derek Babineaux likes it. He also likes the newest member of staff at Tulane Medical Centre...sexy nurse, Justin Delacroix. He also likes the newest member of staff at Tulane Medical Centre...sexy nurse, Justin Delacroix. Dr. Baby wants to act on his desire for the former military man, but there's something holding Justin back. It's not that Justin doesn't return the attraction, but that he doesn't mix business with pleasure...does he? I was lucky enough to originally read this one as part of the Night Shift anthology and here's what I said then (NB: a shortened version appeared in the Give Me Books review of said anthology): I loved this hot little read! Justin and Derek (Dr. Baby, BTW, is an awesome nickname) were SCORCHING hot together. I loved their flirty moments, I loved the intrigue; I loved this story. It didn't go the way I originally envisioned, and I am glad of it. There were fun, surprising moments in Closet Confession and it felt like a complete, well-rounded story, despite the length. Their brief-but-OMG-I-need-a-cold-shower coupling was spot-on; I wouldn't change a thing about it but I also wouldn't say no to MORE from this sexy couple. I wonder...could we make that happen, Kindle? And now, Closet Confession HAS given me extra from Justin and Derek—and I LOVED IT EVEN MORE. So, thank you, Kindle Alexander! The story was still just as fun and flirty and sizzling, and I was still just as entranced by the way these authors worked their story in a way that made it surprising even on a second read. The additional scenes simply gave added depth to a couple that I already had a thing for. #Winning, to throwback a few years and steal Charlie Sheen's word. Yup, this one is most definitely worth a read...or two. ~ Beth, 5 stars ~~~ My usual complaint when it comes to short stories and novellas is that they don't give me enough depth to get invested. Or JUST when I'm getting invested, the story ends abruptly. That is not the case with this here. I LOVED Justin and Derek! Their stories were little gifts that kept me glued to my kindle. First, we're given an artfully crafted, sinfully sexy story with a small but satisfying twist—and it wraps up beautifully. However, luckily for us, in this version, the story doesn't end there. We're also given snapshots into other stages in the story of Justin and Derek, and while the book can still easily be read in one sitting, I felt like I walked away invested, after a full and satisfying love story. These two are completely combustible together, steamy, dirty, and hot. They are also incredibly sweet, tender, and madly in love. These stories have a little bit of everything, some tenderness, some angst, some humor, some panty-soaking sexiness, and two strong, smart, sexy men. Does it get any better than that? ~ Shelly, 4.5 stars ~~~ Stop. Go read it. NOW! It's short, and quick, and completely wonderful in every way. Derek, or "Dr. Baby" was such a sexy hunk of a man. The way his admiration of Justin begins leaves you with so many questions, but it's so HOT you don't even care about the answers. What a combustible couple! Their chemistry is absolutely off the charts, and the fireworks between them will melt your panties right off and leave you weak kneed and wanting more. Don't worry, there's more! The romance was there too, and I melted at the good Dr's old-fashioned commitment desires and romantic nature. The bonus chapters answered all the important questions, along with giving even more of that steamy couple that you crave. A perfect one sitting read, which is both good and bad. Good, because you won't be able to put it down. Bad, because you'll be so disappointed when it ends. Just don't let the length fool you, this book packs a powerful punch! ~ George, 5 stars

More feelings! More passion! You understood why Justin acted the way he did. Why he kept his feelings "in the closet". ****3.5 Stars**** This was a sweet novella (previously released in an anthology). I appreciated the author included the little tidbits at the end but all it did was make me want more!! I think it could have truly been a wonderful full-length novel. All of the elements were there. I adored the two MCs especially Derek. This is a short quick read that made me want more. More of these two characters. For such a short read though I could feel their love. There were added scenes at the end of the book that gave us more insight. I wish the author would take those scenes and add them into the book and maybe write more. These two along with their story could make a great full length read.

We meet Dr. Derek Babineaux ("Dr. Baby" as some of the nurses call him), and Justin Delacroix, both of whom work at Tulane Hospital. The whole time, there's this secret sexual tension between the two - they're attracted to each other, but don't want to act on it at work. Justin acts shy and tries to hide his attraction and stay professional, but eventually Dr. Baby gets him into a closet in a closed off part of the hospital and naughty things happen. Throughout the short story, we learn that Justin was in the military. It was hard for him being away from his boyfriend for long periods of time, and they constantly struggled to make it work. He finally gets out of the military and takes a fast-paced job at Tulane and has to school his emotions in front of Derek. Derek has been in a relationship before, but was hurt by the fact that his boyfriend didn't want to really announce their relationship and flaunt it to the world. All Derek wants is to not hide in public, and act like a real couple in front of others - hold hands, quick kisses, all that jazz. I cannot tell you how happy I was to find out that Derek and Justin have actually been together for years. I literally squealed in delight. I wanted so bad for Justin to have someone to stand next to him, and for Derek to have someone that isn't scared to be who he is. It's a very sweet, very HOT, very GOOD short story. I love it so much, that I'm praying that these two characters are screaming in Kindle's mind to have a full length story. I'd love to read their history before they get to Tulane, and what happens after. As always, Kindle does an AMAZING job, and I was NOT disappointed.

A nice novella. I enjoyed reading these few pages about Dr. Derek Babineaux and nurse Justin Delacroix and the little twist to their story was great. (Although I already assumed it) I think the idea of the plot and the characters had great potential for a wonderful romance, but here it was really just too short to be something remarkable. Especially how quick Justin changed his mind and let people know about their relationship was unrealistic. Felt a bit like a Grey's Anatomy fanfiction, Dr. Derek A nice novella. I just felt the need to start my review with that major observation, as anyone downloading a sample will never get to the body of work to get a taste of the writing style. Complete review listed below upon the completion of the novella. I will start by saying Closet Confessions is my first book by Kindle Alexander. She has a large fanbase within our review group, so I thought it time to pop my cherry, so to speak. I enjoyed the easy flow of the author’s distinct voice and the writing style. The setting of the scene was very descriptive, allowing the reader to get a feel of the hospital and the narrator. Noting something I’ve noticed time and time again: the generational divide between the narrators and their elders. Many books have 20somethings to 30somethings with elderly parents. In this situation, Dr. Baby has an aunt who just turned 83… 48 years his elder, his mother’s sister. That’s what I meant by the generational divide: we’re missing an entire generation somewhere. The elderly aunt was a fun addition to the story. Meddlesome, ornery, yet sweet and loveable. Her need to find her nephew a date was cute. Within a few pages, we meet Justin, a nurse and our other narrator. His fellow nurses are lusting over the newcomer, and Dr. Baby (Derek) finally pays attention to him. I realized that when the content of the story started so far within the book that there would be an instant connection between the two as there was no room otherwise to build up to it. But this took instant to a whole new level. One interaction- and they are locked in a closet together, already so lust-filled with the other’s hotness they can’t help themselves. (where readers will be confused and turned off, Justin kept speaking/thinking of his partner- his fellow nurses said he had a live in partner… so Derek (a doctor) flirting with him after that known fact is odd. And odder yet is Justin, who is beyond introspective and quiet, going against his own nature and his relationship to flirt back. But not only flirt…) This all happens so quickly that there is absolutely no buildup. It’s just BAM! Closet. Now, obviously if you’re reading this review after reading the book, this is explained. But it’s a bit jarring to read when in the ‘closet’ so to speak. I won’t ruin the twist, but by the time I figured it out… shrug. To be honest, since this is my first KA book, I’m willing to try a full-length novel, as this short story’s pacing was on crack, with so much left out or simply told versus shown, and I’m not sure of the scope of the author’s storytelling abilities from this bit I just read. Length of book It started at 14% & ended at 63%. Only 49% of the book was the finished product. Followed by scenes that weren’t included into the overall story. It was just an odd format for me, leaving me feeling disconnected from the story in general. I would have enjoyed the story if it had been told in a linear fashion, as the twist wasn’t that shocking. But being written in the fashion it was, the twist actually put me off from reading it (the narration was unreliable in the beginning because of said twist). If any of that makes any sense. Just my overall thoughts on Closet Confessions.

Short and sweet with a sexy twist. Review to follow! However it was also so much more and a wonderful curve ball thrown in that I did not see coming but when it did, it took all the confusion I was feeling up to that point away. Cleverly done. The sexy time as always with this writing pair was deeply passionate and raunchy with a touch of the forbidden thrown in. There was also some angst and tension that helped to weave an entangled and emotive tale. I won’t go into the synopsis but suffice to say the further you read the more is unravelled and explanations unfold. The extra scenes were a welcomed addition and had me looking back at certain parts of the main story that had me thinking ‘Ah yes that was why’ or ‘ Yup, that makes sense now’ In some ways it was a little bit backwards and forwards which some may find frustrating but to me it offered something a little different. I loved the ending though and the shock that is delivered to the rest of the shift. Yes that had me smiling. And then came the epilogues that had me swooning. Overall a short, sweet, sassy and raunchy hot read that kept me entertained throughout and gave me a new lust for Doctors and Nurses. Kinky! Four stars. Closet Confession had such a sweet twist to it. Writing this review without spoiling that twist is going to be difficult. It is what makes this story such a sweet read. I would love to say I didn’t see it coming but with the length of this novella it was the only thing that made sense for Derek and Justin to get their happily ever after. It worked though and that really is all that matters. Justin is trying to get used to his new life as a civilian. It worked though and that really is all that matters. Justin is trying to get used to his new life as a civilian. Working in emergency at Tulane Medical allows him to stay working in his chosen field while keeping the fast pace of the front lines the military kept him on. It seems everyone at the hospital has their eyes on the new nurse. He’s former military, sexy, smart, and just a touch of shy. Dr. Derek Babineaux wants him just as much as the nurses that stare and gossip. Everyone knows just enough about Justin to know that he is off limits. Derek just wants him to stop ignoring all his flirting and to finally acknowledge him. I'm glad I read Closet Confession on its own. The bonus scenes that Kindle Alexander included were just as amazing as the rest of their story. Justin and Derek are so sweet that you want to read more of them. Their interactions with one another easily make any reader want to know every detail of their every moment.

Read from March 16 to 17, 2015 Since I only read M/M I purchased this mainly to support the cause and for Kindle Alexander's Closet Confession. What a great short read, she has become the master of WTH? And of course she delivers once again. Justin and Dr Baby were perfect. Sept 6, 2015 re-read of expanded version I thought the ending in the Anthology Night Shift was perfect but the ending to Closet Confession Expanded Version was just awesome. Loved the extra chapters that Kindle added that gave us the beginning, the meeting of Aunt Vera and their very own HEA. As Always the Kindle’s are Per-Fect when it comes to writing a great love story.
